Privacy Policy

Short version: digital-rechnung.de processes your invoice files entirely in your browser. No invoice data is ever sent to a server. We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising. To improve our tool, we operate a small anonymous feedback widget on our own server — it logs which page you are on and what you are doing (e.g. "file loaded"), but never your IP address or any personal data.

2. Invoice Data – Processed Locally Only
When you open an XRechnung, ZUGFeRD or Factur-X file, the file is processed exclusively in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your invoice file and all data contained in it (amounts, parties, IBAN, etc.) are never transmitted to any server operated by us or any third party.
We have no technical ability to access your invoice data. Nothing is stored, logged or analysed on our end.
3. Server Logs
We do not collect HTTP access logs. No IP addresses, request URLs, browser data or any other connection metadata are recorded when you visit digital-rechnung.de.
The site is hosted on a dedicated server operated by us at Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestraße 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany (server location: Nuremberg, Germany). Hetzner provides the infrastructure only and has no access to your data or traffic. No data is transferred outside the European Union.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only browser storage used is:
- localStorage key
dr_lang: stores your language preference (e.g. "en"). No personal data, never transmitted to a server, deleted when you clear your browser storage.
No consent banner is required as no personal data is processed through this storage.
5. No Tracking, No Analytics
We do not use Google Analytics, Matomo, Meta Pixel, or any other analytics or advertising service. No data is shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
5a. Feedback Widget & Anonymous Usage Data
To help us understand how our tool is used and improve it over time, we operate a small feedback widget hosted on our own server (feedback.rechnivo.de, located in Germany). After a brief delay of 1.5 seconds after page load — a simple measure to exclude automated bots — the widget sends an anonymous request to our server containing:
- The current page URL (e.g.
/or/en/) - The current action in the app (e.g. landing, invoice_loaded, pdf_downloaded)
No personal data is transmitted. Your IP address is used transiently in server memory solely for rate limiting (max. 120 requests per hour per IP) and is never written to disk or stored in any form.
If you choose to submit a message via the feedback dialog, the text you enter — together with the current page and action — is stored on our server. No personal data is linked to this entry. Feedback entries are stored on our server in Germany and reviewed periodically.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in improving the service. No consent banner is required as no personal data is processed.

As a data subject, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold (in practice, only server logs):
